A Mother’s Day to Remember with Our Rosé
If you’re wondering what to do for Mother’s Day this year and how to make it extra special for your Mum, have you considered making a Mother’s Day afternoon tea at home?
It’s often the thought that counts the most and baking your own afternoon tea means you can fully personalise the experience for you and your Mum, in the comfort of your own home. All you need to get started is a simple layered serving board, which you can fill with a variety of your Mum’s favourite finger sandwiches and bakes. Think cucumber and cream cheese, coronation chicken and egg mayonnaise for a traditional approach.
For the bakes, scones are quick and easy to make and can be easily elevated with shop-bought jam and clotted cream to help save a little time. Then it’s down to you which cakes and bakes you want to add to the tray. Mini cupcakes are an elegant choice, or you could opt for a couple of tray bakes, such as lemon drizzle, sliced into sophisticated shapes. Aim for a mix of colourful contrasts with your sandwiches and bakes to create the prettiest presentation.
When it comes to the tea, of course a pot of Earl Grey is a classic accompaniment with the food, but a glass of special wine pairs perfectly with the indulgence of the sweet treats. We’d recommend a glass of our award-winning English Rosé 2023 Vintage for a memorable afternoon with your Mother. The refreshing flavours of strawberries and limes in our Rosé balance the sweetness of the bakes, and the fruitiness of the wine matches the juicy notes of the jam and creamy clotted cream spread onto fresh scones.
Whilst it’s lovely to gift your Mum on Mother’s Day, we think a delicious food and drink experience together is the ideal way to mark the moment and spend some quality time together.
