Perfect Way to Pour This Christmas
Christmas is coming and the organised amongst us no doubt already have their chosen bottles of wine chilling or waiting patiently on the wine rack. But, have you considered the Christmas wine glasses you’re going to use this year to make it extra special?
Below we have a few tips and recommendations on what to look out for when selecting your Christmas wine glass, to make the most of that perfect bottle:
-
Firstly, stem or stemless? Holding the glass by the stem helps to keep the wine at its ideal temperature, which is vitally important for sparkling or chilled wines. However, you could source stemless glassware to create a sense of variety on your tablescape and to enjoy with a cosy red wine and Christmas dinner. These have the added bonus of also being harder to knock over when guests are reaching for food!
-
Consider sizing: the shape of the glass actually has a huge influence on how you taste and enjoy the wine inside it. A wider bowl offers more surface area for aeration which is perfect for reds, like our Rondo 2023 Vintage. A narrower bowl helps to concentrate delicate white aromas. It’s worth having a couple of options in your collection instead of opting for a one-size-fits-all approach to sample your wine at its best

‘Tis the season to have fun: Christmas and New Year are all about conviviality and bringing loved ones together. While it’s certainly time for a special bottle or two, don’t take your glassware too seriously. There’s no end to the wonderful decorative options you can choose from. Of course, usually, a thin, clear glass with a fine rim is optimal for wine tasting, but at Christmas, we say the more decorative the better
For inspiration, head to The Vintage List for an unparalleled selection of beautiful glassware to elevate your table setting this Christmas. Or, if you’re local to Herefordshire, home to our award-winning English vineyard, you can’t go wrong with a trip to The Kitchen Cupboard in Ledbury to source elegant glasses for your festivities.
