Your Next Rosé Obsession is English
No doubt if you’re an English wine fan you’ve likely started your journey into the category with a refreshing and crisp glass of English Sparkling, or even an elegant glass of English Sparkling Rosé. But have you ventured into the world of fruity and juicy still English rosés?
In 2024, WineGB reported that sales of English & Welsh still wines (including rosés) almost doubled, increasing by 177% from 1.2 million to 2.6 million bottles. And Majestic Wines experienced a 200% year-on-year rise in English rosé sales, during 2021. Whilst sparkling wine still accounts for around 75% of English wine sales, there’s no question that the appetite for quality, still, pink wine from the UK is growing.
Supported by an increasingly favourable climate and a surge in investment in English vineyards, this area of English wine is moving forward at an unprecedented rate. With its own distinctive style, shaped by the UK’s cooler climate, expect fresh red berries, crisp acidity, and zesty clean textures in a bottle of English pink.
Our own Rosé is something particularly special as it’s a unique blend of Solaris and Rondo grapes. Carefully chosen for their compatibility with the Herefordshire soil, these grapes reflect the best of our English vineyard’s terroir. Unlike many rosés, which are made by directly pressing red grapes and leaving the skins in contact with the juice for a short time, we chose to blend ours instead using the two grapes. This allowed us to draw out the best characteristics of both grape varieties, combining vibrant flavour with elegant structure.
The result is a premium and expressive blend that rips up the rulebook of what a rosé can be. Alluring summer berry aromas burst through with hints of green tea. Refreshing flavours of strawberries and limes balance the sweetness with a medium-dry finish that’s perfect for sunny al fresco dining. When wine lovers taste this Rosé for the first time, they often can’t believe it’s been made in England.
Now an award-winning English wine, our Rosé was awarded a silver medal at the WineGB Awards in 2023. So, this summer, enjoy a bottle of Rosé that’s been crafted closer to home, and support the British farming community with what’s in your glass.
